Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., has opened a new recovery area for transradial catheterization patients, according to a hospital news release.

The 1,900-square-foot Radial Lounge includes eight treatment rooms with individual lounge chairs, high-definition televisions and wireless Internet access.

Wake Forest Baptist currently performs 70 percent of its catheterization procedures through the radial artery. Robert Applegate, MD, professor of cardiology at Wake Forest Baptist, estimates the new lounge will increase the frequency of this procedure to 90 percent, according to the news release.
