VCU Medical Center to Open $23 Million Birth Unit Renovation

Richmond-based Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center is putting the finishing touches on a $23 million upgrade to its labor and delivery unit, according to a report from the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

The unit's size has increased by 50 percent, and the newly expanded space features larger rooms, labor tubs and wireless monitoring systems.

The unit occupies the space from VCU's old neonatal intensive care unit, which moved to VCU Critical Care Hospital, also in Richmond, several years back, according to the report.
