Baptist Easley (S.C.) Hospital has applied for a certificate of need for a cancer center and linear accelerator, placing it in competition with Greenville, S.C.-based Bon Secours St. Francis Health System, which made a similar request in August, according to a Greenville News report.
If approved, Baptist Easley would construct a $9 million, 20,000-square-foot cancer treatment center that would include a $2.6 million linear accelerator. St. Francis' plans include an $11 million, 50,000-square-foot outpatient cancer center that would house the linear accelerator and double in size when St. Francis adds a free-standing emergency room.
