Medical trade groups are concerned that potential changes to laws on medical imaging and radiation therapy technology will create insufficient equipment standards, according a report by The Hill.
The regulation change, while not yet formally presented by CMS, is expected to loosen current regulations that require hospitals to maintain medical imaging equipment according to manufacturer guidelines. The change would also require fewer equipment tests.
Medical trade groups have written to CMS to argue that such changes will jeopardize patient safety and inadvertently increase healthcare costs.
