Johnson City (Tenn.) Medical Center is raising funds for a $15 million expanded and renovated radiation oncology department, according to a report form the Johnson City Press.
The expanded department will be located in Johnson City Medical Center's new surgical tower and will increase oncology's space from 16,700 square feet to nearly 36,000 square feet. Other oncology updates include a medical library, a chapel and new radiation equipment.
The current oncology department serves more than six times the number of patients for which it was designed, according to the report.
