Falls Church, Va.-based Inova Health announced its governance board has approved the establishment of the Inova Comprehensive Cancer and Research Institute.
The ICCRI will be a freestanding facility on the Inova Fairfax Hospital campus in Falls Church, and will coordinate cancer services provided at Inova's five hospitals. The institute will also host a national comprehensive cancer program in treatment and research.
The ICCRI will work with the Inova Translational Medicine Institute, which is located in Inova Fairfax Hospital, and clinical staff to provide patient-targeted therapies through genomic analysis.
Inova plans to begin construction in 2014.
