Windber (Pa.) Medical Center announced a telemedicine program in collaboration with Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System to provide emergency care for stroke patients.
Stroke specialists from Geisinger will be connected to patients through a video monitoring system and will have direct access to the patients' test readouts. "We can begin treatment as though we were right there in the same room," said Geisinger neurologist Edgar Kenton, MD.
