Florida Hospital Collaborates With USF Health, Puts $14M Toward Research in Key Specialties

Florida Hospital in Orlando and USF Health in Tampa have announced a strategic alliance, which includes a $14 million investment by Florida Hospital to bring research-driven treatment to four of its Tampa Bay area hospitals, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

USF faculty and residents will team with Florida Hospital staff in four areas:: cardiology at Florida Hospital Pepin Heart Institute in Tampa; breast health at Florida Hospital Tampa; neuroscience at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills (Fla.); and surgical oncology, melanoma and breast cancer at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital in Tarpon Springs (Fla.).

The $14 million investment will contribute to research collaboration and genomic screening explorations in cardiology; partnerships to improve breast cancer diagnostic services; increased access to evidence-based brain surgery, spine surgery and minimally invasive treatments; and the development of advanced technologies to treat oncological disorders.
