Duke Medicine, Lexington Medical Center Affiliate on Cancer Care

Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, S.C., announced an affiliation with Durham, N.C.-based Duke Medicine to improve patients' access to high-quality cancer care.

Under the affiliation, Lexington Medical Center patients will have access to Duke's clinical trials. The Duke Oncology Network will provide mentors to Lexington Medical Center physicians to improve policies and procedures and will help guide oncology clinical practice, program development and continuing medical education.

Duke Oncology Network's partnership with the Lexington Medical Center will build on the hospital's recent improvements to its oncology program, including a new medical office and infusion center for its physician practice and a renovation of its oncology floor.

Lexington Medical Center affiliated with Duke for cardiovascular care last year. Duke has helped develop the hospital's cardiac care program, including open-heart surgery, according to the release.
