Grand Coulee, Wash.-based Coulee Medical Center has joined the Telestroke Network, which will provide the hospital with round-the-clock access to stroke specialists, according to a report from The Star.
CMC began the training process this past week, teaching staff how to use the telemedicine equipment, which consists of a pod with two-way audio and video.
Telemedicine is particularly useful in stroke care as seeing and hearing the patient are important components to a stroke diagnosis, according to the hospital.
CMC joins about one dozen other hospitals in the Eastern Washington area as a member of the Stroke Network, according to the report.
