Columbus Community Hospital Debuts Cancer Rehab Program

Columbus (Neb.) Community Hospital has created a new program for helping cancer survivors get life back to normal, according to a report from the Columbus Telegram.

The Survivor Training and Rehabilitation Program, also known as STAR, engages a multidisciplinary team of health professionals, including physicians, nurses, therapists, dieticians and social workers, to construct personal wellness plans for eligible patients.

Each patient meets with a program coordinator to discuss the aspects of the program that is right for him or her. The coordinator and patient then discuss wellness plans with the patient's physician.

The STAR program represents a programmatic shift to integrative care, according to the report.
