Brigham & Women's, Eastern Maine Medical Update Heart Partnership

Bangor-based Eastern Maine Medical Center has announced a cardiac telemedicine partnership with Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, according to a report from Bangor Daily News.

EMMC has previously consulted with cardiologists at Brigham and Women's, but the new telemedicine connection will allow instantaneous consultations with specialists in Boston during complex procedures like cardiac catheterization at EMMC.

While most patients who seek cardiac care at EMMC will receive it there, in the event that a transfer to Brigham and Women's becomes necessary, the telemedicine connection will allow for a faster decision-making process, according to the article.
