Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich., is constructing a combination cardiovascular research and medical device training center, according to a Crain's Detroit Business report.
The Beaumont Center for Innovation and Research in Cardiovascular Disease will host research on cardiac and radiologic medical devices and training for physicians, nurses and technical sales representatives. The center plans to train 20 to 25 physicians every three months to perform procedures with new medical devices after they are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Robert Safian, MD, director of the new center, said one of the goals of the center is to support research and build relationships with medical device companies, according to the report.
Beaumont will partially fund the 2,500-square-foot center, and it is also seeking $5 million to $10 million in philanthropic donations.
