In an effort to offer the latest therapies to a larger number of cancer patients, hospitals and health systems are expanding their cancer programs. Here are seven of the largest oncology expansions in the past month, starting with the most recent.
- Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tenn., and Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., partnered to open a cancer treatment center.
- Boca Raton (Fla.) Regional Hospital announced that its Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute has joined Tampa, Fla.-based Moffitt Oncology Network.
- The MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital in Houston announced the opening of a new pediatric floor that combines inpatient and outpatient services with patient-friendly amenities.
- A city-owned block in New York City between East 126th and East 127th Street is projected to be the site of a proposed $240 million proton beam therapy center, a collaboration between Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Beth Israel Medical Center, NYU Langone Medical Center, Montefiore Medical Center and Mount Sinai Hospital.
- Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital in Humble, Texas, officially opened its renovated and expanded cancer center on June 27.
- A planned expansion and renovation of the cancer center at White Plains (N.Y.) Hospital will double its current size.
- Trident Health System in Charleston, S.C., announced plans for a $6.1 million expansion of its cancer center.
