6 Recent Hospital Expansions for Cardiology Services

In an effort to offer the latest therapies to a larger number of patients with heart disease, hospitals and health systems are expanding and renovating their cardiovascular centers. Here are six of the largest cardiology expansions in the past month, starting with the most recent.

1. The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor announced the launch the state's first cardio-oncology clinic, focused on preventing or reducing heart damage caused by chemotherapy and radiation.

2. Baptist Medical Center Beaches (Fla.) will open a joint cardiac and interventional radiology center.

3. Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, N.Y., named its new cardiology center after longtime donor Theresa Patnode Santmann in recognition of her $1 million donation.

4. MidMichigan Medical Center-Clare opened a new cardiac catheterization lab.

5. Sharp Grossmont Hospital and the Grossmont Healthcare District announced the beginning of construction on a new Heart and Vascular Center located on the hospital's campus in La Mesa, Calif.

6. Lenox Hill Hospital held a ribbon-cutting ceremony today for its new outpatient cardiac center in Yorktown Heights, N.Y.
