Wisconsin Hospitals Provide Nearly $1.2B in Community Benefits for 2009

A recent report by the Wisconsin Hospital Association found the state's 130 hospitals provided $1.18 billion in community benefits in 2009.

The report also found Wisconsin hospitals provided $226.3 million in charity care and absorbed $499.3 million in Medicaid shortfalls in the same year. Hospital also spent $129.8 million on providing subsidized health services and $61.5 million on community health improvement services, such as health education, support groups, screening and other support services.
