Tenet Florida and The Scripps Research Institute in Jupiter, Fla., have submitted a letter of intent to build an academic medical center in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., according to a Scripps news release.
The medical center would include an 80-bed acute-care hospital as well as specialized medical and surgical services in orthopedics, oncology, senior care and digestive diseases, the release said. The hospital will also offer residency and internships for medical students enrolled in the Florida Atlantic University Medical School in Boca Raton, Fla.
Roughly 250 to 300 full-time healthcare jobs are estimated to be created with the new medical center, and construction is now pending state approval, the release said.
