Sanford-MeritCare, which was formed last year after the merger of Sioux Fall, S.D.-based Sanford Health and Fargo, N.D.-based MeritCare, has announced it will change its named to Sanford Health, according to a Plains Daily report.
The name change is part of the health system's efforts to unify the vision and mission of its 30 hospitals and network of physicians and clinics, according to the report.
The health system was named after businessman Denny Sanford who donated $400 million to Sioux Valley Health System in 2007. Sioux Valley changed its name to Sanford Health after receiving the gift.
