LSU Health Shreveport in Louisiana Plagued With $12.8M Budget Shortfall

LSU Health Shreveport (La.) currently faces a $12.8 million budget shortfall and is looking across the board for potential cuts, according to a Shreveport Times report.

According to a university spokeswoman, the shortfall comprises 5 percent of the entity's budget. University officials are considering "academic partnerships," "increasing revenue by maximizing patient care capacity" and "reducing outmigration of local patients" in order to increase funds, according to the report.

University, medical school and hospital system budgets will come before the LSU board of supervisors for a vote on Aug. 26.
