AHA Spends $4.2M on Q2 Lobbying

The American Hospital Association spent $4.2 million on federal lobbying efforts in the second quarter of 2011, according to a Bloomberg Businessweek report.


The $4.2 million spend is down only slightly (less than 1 percent) compared to the second quarter of 2010. Compared to the first quarter of 2011, spending is up 4 percent, according to the report.

The AHA's lobbying efforts during the quarter included encouraging the repeal of the Independent Payment Advisory Board, promoting legislation that would provide visas to foreign registered nurses and their families and improve reporting requirements for tax-exempt hospitals, among other issues, according to the report.
