The hospital industry gained more than 5,000 employees in Oct. 2010, a five percent increase from Sept. 2010, according to a Bureau of Labor Statistics report.
Despite publicized layoffs and closures, the industry has gained 38,000 employees since Oct. 2009, according to the report. Total seasonally adjusted employment for the month rounded out to 4.726 million.
