Raleigh, N.C.-based WakeMed Health & Hospitals has selected Donald Gintzig as president and CEO, according to the health system.
Mr. Gintzig has been serving in these roles in an interim capacity since October 2013.
He previously served as CEO of Minneapolis-based UnitedHealth Group, Nashville, Tenn.-based Saint Thomas Health Services and The Pottsville (Penn.) Hospital and Warne Clinic. Additionally, Mr. Gintzig is a retired Rear Admiral in the U.S. Navy where he oversaw more than 150,000 navy personnel and 40 military treatment facilities.
