Vanderbilt names executive vice chair of clinical affairs

Nashville, Tenn.- Vanderbilt University Medical Center has selected Bryan Harris, MD, to serve as executive vice chair for clinical affairs in the department of medicine, effective July 1. 

Dr. Harris is an assistant professor of medicine in the division of infectious diseases within the department of medicine. As executive vice chair for clinical affairs, he will lead efforts to enhance quality and safety, and streamline clinical operations in outpatient and inpatient settings, according to a May 8 news release. 

He succeeds Cecilia Theobald, MD, who is transitioning to the role of VUMC's chief of staff for corporate clinical affairs and senior vice president of clinical affairs. Dr. Harris was the associate hospital epidemiologist during the COVID-19 pandemic and routinely led town halls to answer questions surrounding the disease.
