Syracuse, N.Y.-based SUNY Upstate Medical University selected Robert J. Corona Jr., DO, to serve as CEO and Amy Tucker, MD, as CMO of Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse permanently, according to a Business Journal News Network report.
Dr. Corona took over as interim CEO in March 2018, following the departure of Steven M. Scott. He was previously a professor and chair of the pathology and laboratory medicine department. He has also served as vice president for innovation and business and founded the hospital's telemedicine program in the 1990s. He left the hospital for Welch Allyn, a medical device maker, before returning in 2012.
Dr. Tucker was director of adult ambulatory services at the hospital before becoming interim CMO in April 2018. She previously worked at Charlottesville-based University of Virginia, where she served in several roles, including as founder and director of the Club Red Women's Cardiovascular Prevention Clinic and director of the cardiovascular fellowship training program. She has also served as CMO of Locus Health, a healthcare data analytics company.
Dr. Tucker replaced Anthony Weiss, MD, who left to take on the CMO role at Boston-based Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
