Rebecca Kaul has resigned as Pittsburgh-based UPMC's chief innovation officer three months after being promoted into the position, according to a report in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
At the time of her promotion, Ms. Kaul was also the president of UPMC's Technology Development Center, a division of the health system that develops apps and other products. The center's portfolio includes ConvergenceMD, an app that allows physicians to view patient records on a tablet, and EMS Navigator, an app that helps first responders find their way to the nearest hospital as well as provide medical best practices. Ms. Kaul had held both titles for the past three months.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Ms. Kaul is now a self-employed health IT consultant.
Rasu Shrestha, MD, who had been serving as UPMC's vice president for medical information technology and the medical director of interoperability and imaging informatics, has replaced Ms. Kaul as chief innovation officer. He is also serving as the interim president of the Technology Development Center, according to a report in the Pittsburgh Business-Times.
