UK HealthCare in Lexington, Ky., named Carol Steltenkamp, MD, its external CMO.
As external CMO, Dr. Steltenkamp will represent clinicians in strategy, outreach and communications. She will drive strategic clinical alliances with physicians and healthcare organizations throughout the state and beyond it.
Dr. Steltenkamp is a member of the pediatric faculty at the UK College of Medicine in Lexington. She served as UK HealthCare's first chief medical information officer from 2004 to 2018.
Dr. Steltenkamp served as chair of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society's Board of Managers in 2015. She has also chaired the Kentucky eHealth Board and serves as the principal investigator for $10 million-plus in health IT funding, including the HHS' foundational grant that established the Kentucky Regional Extension Center.
