UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Ala., announced it is eliminating the position of CEO and is moving interim CEO Anthony Patterson to the role of senior vice president of inpatient services, a newly created position.
UAB Medicine recently created the role of COO and named Reid F. Jones to the position. Mr. Patterson will report to Mr. Jones in his new role.
The elimination of the UAB Hospital CEO position and the creation of a UAB Medicine COO position is part of a reorganization of the UAB Medicine operating structure, according to the hospital's news release.
