The board of Southern Coos Hospital in Bandon, Ore., has fired CEO Jim Wathen, according to a KCBY News report.
Mr. Wathen has been employed by the hospital board for nearly 17 years. No reason for the dismissal was given other than one board member claiming that the decision was "purely political," according to the report.
Mr. Wathen's last day as CEO will be July 31. He will receive his salary for one year as well as retirement benefits, according to the report.
