Salinas Valley Memorial Board Chooses New CEO

Salinas (Calif.) Valley Memorial Healthcare System's board has extended an offer to a candidate to become SVMH's CEO, but has yet to reveal the candidate's name, according to a report by The Californian.

According to The Californian, the board had two final CEO candidates: Pete Delgado, CEO of the Los Angeles County-USC Healthcare Network; and Matt Gerlach, vice president and CEO of Glendale (Calif.) Memorial Hospital and Health Center.

If the mystery candidate accepts the offer, he will be the system's first permanent CEO since 2011, when Sam Downing retired. Lowell Johnson, FACHE, has been serving as SVMH's interim CEO but was recently named interim CEO of North Hawaii Community Hospital in Kamuela.
