Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, based in Washington, D.C., has named John J. Castellani as its new president and CEO, according to a PhRMA news release.
Mr. Castellani comes to PhRMA from Business Roundtable, an association of corporate chief executives where he spent nine years as president and CEO. As president of Business Roundtable, Mr. Castellani worked with leading CEOs and members of Congress to drive economic growth and create job opportunities.
Mr. Castellani has also served in leadership positions at Tenneco and the National Association of Manufacturers. He began his career as an environmental scientist at General Electric.
Mr. Castellani will start his position in September. He succeeds former PhRMA president and CEO Billy Tauzin, who transitioned to a role as senior advisor earlier this year.
