Northern Hospital of Surry County in Mount Airy, N.C., has appointed E. Berton Whitaker interim CEO, according to a Mount Airy News report.
In 2013, Mr. Whitaker retired from Baptist Health Madisonville (Ky.), where he served as president and CEO for seven years. Prior, he was president and CEO of Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn.
Mr. Whitaker is taking over duties for E. Timothy Cook who served as interim CEO for three days before being removed from the position.
The hospital is trying to find a permanent replacement for Bill James, who left in April to become president of Wake Forest Baptist Health-Lexington (N.C.) Medical Center.
