Northern Hospital names Ned Hill president and CEO

Northern Hospital in Mt. Airy, N.C., has named Ned Hill as president and CEO, effective Oct. 6, according to a Mt. Airy News report.

Mr. Hill will replace longtime Bill James, who left the hospital in April after 19 years as CEO. Mr. James is now president of Wake Forest Baptist Health – Lexington (N.C.) Medical Center.

Northern Hospital named an interim leader, Timothy Cook, although he left the hospital in April after three days in the role. Hospital officials said his sudden departure was due to a poor fit and a slow start, according to the report. Berton Whitaker assumed the interim post in June.

Mr. Hill previously served as CEO of Memorial Hospital of Carbon County in Rawlins, Wyo., and as COO of Naples, Fla.-based Health Management Associates hospitals in Oklahoma and Alabama.
