Slidell (La.) Memorial Hospital's board of commissioners unanimously voted to fire CEO Bob Hawley after he was arrested for driving while intoxicated, according to a St. Tammany News report.
According to the report, on July 13 police pulled Mr. Hawley over for "driving erratically, and swerving in and out of his lane." He then failed a sobriety test and later a Breathalyzer test. After spending several hours in jail, Mr. Hawley posted a $2,500 bond and was released. The incident marks the second time Mr. Hawley was arrested for a DWI in the past six years.
Mr. Hawley has served as CEO of Slidell Memorial Hospital since 2000. Since his appointment, he has been credited with turning around the financially unstable hospital, among other accomplishments. CFO Bill Davis will serve as interim CEO until a permanent replacement is found. Meanwhile, Mr. Hawley will undergo treatment on an outpatient basis, according to the report.
