Salem, Va.-based LewisGale Regional Health System has appointed new leaders in three executive positions, according to a report by The Roanoke Times.
Michael Abbott will serve as COO for the healthcare system's flagship hospital, LewisGale Medical Center. Mr. Abbott has been with LewisGale for 23 years, previously serving as director of pharmacy, vice president of surgical services and vice president of oncology services. He is taking over duties for Bill Caldwell, who accepted the CEO position at Wilson (N.C.) Medical Center.
Richard Embrey, MD, has been selected as CMO of the health system. Dr. Embrey most recently served as CMO of Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Ala.
Loressa Cole has been named chief nurse executive of the health system and CNO of LewisGale Medical Center. Ms. Cole is also president of the Virginia Nurses Association.
