Brian Nester, MD, has been named president and CEO of Allentown, Pa.-based Lehigh Valley Health Network after serving as the system's interim president and CEO since the retirement of Ronald Swinfard in July, according to a recent report.
In this role, Dr. Nester will be responsible for a network of 12,000 employees, four hospitals and 11 healthcare centers throughout the Greater Lehigh Valley.
Prior to becoming the Lehigh Valley Health Network's interim president and CEO, Dr. Nester was the system's chief strategy officer, a role he entered in 2011.
Dr. Nester arrived at Lehigh Valley Health Network in 1998 to serve as associate vice chair of the department of emergency medicine as both the research director and the director of the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg emergency department in Bethlehem, Pa., after serving in an academic role in emergency medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. He has served in numerous leadership positions at Lehigh Valley Health Network since then.
