Minneapolis-based Hennepin Healthcare has named Jennifer DeCubellis CEO, effective Feb. 17.
Ms. DeCubellis serves as Hennepin County deputy administrator, overseeing the county's health and human services divisions. She will replace John Cumming, MD, who has been serving as interim CEO since February 2019, when Jon Pryor, MD, resigned.
Hennepin said Ms. DeCubellis' involvement in developing a partnership between the county and the health system played a key role in her being named CEO. Through the partnership, medical and behavioral care is integrated with social services for Medicaid recipients.
"Hospitals and healthcare systems operate in a very challenging financial environment today. As an industry, we have a huge problem with cost and lack of payment for those in need," Brock Nelson, vice chair of the Hennepin Healthcare board, said in a news release. "Jennifer stood out among the candidates because of her track record as a community collaborator and problem solver. She asks the right questions and gets the right people involved to find solutions that are big, bold, and have improved care and lowered costs to the system."
Before working for Hennepin County, Ms. DeCubellis was an innovation adviser for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation and led Mental Health Authority Services in Harris County, Texas.
