HSHS Sacred Heart appoints new leader after CEO's sudden departure last week

Springfield, Ill.-based Hospital Sisters Health System appointed Andrew J. Bagnall president and CEO of Eau Claire, Wis.-based HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital and HSHS' Western Wisconsin Division. He will assume his new roles Feb. 5.

Mr. Bagnall succeeds Julie Manas, who suddenly departed last week. "HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital is moving in a new direction. As a result, Julie Manas…is no longer with the organization," an emailed statement from HSHS reads.

Mr. Bagnall currently serves as president and CEO of HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan, Wis. He has worked at HSHS since 2010, prior to which, he was CEO at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, Iowa. He also served as vice president for Grinnell (Iowa) Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Bagnall holds a master's degree in health administration from St. Ambrose University in Davenport. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and served on several local boards, including the Sheboygan County Economic Development Board.

Therese Pandl, president and CEO of HSHS Eastern Wisconsin, will serve as the interim leader of HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital until a permanent replacement for Mr. Bagnall is selected.
