Hospital CEO Turnover Rate Remains 16%

A report from the American College of Healthcare Executives has found that hospital CEO turnover remained steady in 2011 at 16 percent nationwide.

The turnover rate in 2010 was also 16 percent but prior, from 2001 to 2009, the rate fluctuated from 14 to 18 percent.

According to the report, the turnover rate is expected to remain high as the baby boomer generation retires, thus, hospitals should have detailed succession plans to minimize negative impact from leadership changes.
