Carl Vartian, MD, has been named chief medical information officer of the Houston-based HCA Gulf Coast Division, which includes 10 hospitals and 9 ambulatory surgery centers, among other facilities.
In his new role, Dr. Vartian will spearhead clinical information technology initiatives and serve as a link between physicians and technology solutions. He will combine this new role with his current role as CMO of Bayshore Medical Center in Pasadena, Texas.
Dr. Vartian earned his medical degree from SUNY-Downstate Medical School in Brooklyn, N.Y., and is working toward a master's degree in health informatics at the University of Texas School of Biomedical Informatics in Houston.
