Atlanta-based Grady Health System has named Shan Cooper chair of its foundation board, effective Jan. 1.
Ms. Cooper is "one of Atlanta's most respected volunteer leaders," according to a Dec. 13 news release from the health system. She currently serves on the boards of directors for Georgia Power Company, Intercontinental Exchange, SouthState Corp. and Veritiv Corp., according to her LinkedIn profile.
Ms. Cooper will work to raise funding for the health system following the recent closure of Atlanta Medical Center, which has increased patient volume at Grady. The health system has identified numerous projects to dilute that volume — additional primary care options, expansion of the burn center and other in-hospital clinics, and additional beds at the Crestview Health & Rehabilitation Center — which will require funding support, the release said.
