Emory Healthcare has hired LeWanza Harris, MD, to serve as chief quality officer.
Dr. Harris will join the Atlanta-based system from New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System, where she served as vice president of quality and regulatory affairs.
She is also the former associate chief quality officer at NewYork-Presbyterian in New York City. She spent 10 years at the organization, first joining in 2010 as a manger of quality and safety, according to LinkedIn.
As Emory's chief quality officer, Dr. Harris will be responsible for fostering a culture of safety and ensuring quality is embedded into decision-making related to patient care. She will work closely with other leaders and physicians to set benchmarks and expectations, according to a Sept. 25 news release from the health system.
Dr. Harris will step into her new role Sept. 30.
