Sister Sheila Lyne, RSM, has announced plans to retire as president and CEO of Mercy Hospital & Medical Center in Chicago.
Sister Lyne will continue to lead the hospital until her replacement is named and transitioned. After that, she will become senior advisor to the Mercy Foundation to support fundraising efforts and promote community health.
Sister Lyne became CEO of Mercy in 1976. She held that role until 1991, when she was appointed as the commissioner of public health for the city of Chicago by Mayor Richard M. Daley. She rejoined Mercy as president and CEO in 2000.
