William F. Streck, MD, president and CEO of Cooperstown, N.Y.-based Bassett Healthcare Network, is stepping down, according to an article in uticaOD.com.
Dr. Streck is a board-certified endocrinologist and has been president and CEO of Bassett Healthcare Network since 1984.
Under Dr. Streck's leadership, Basset Medical Center grew from a community hospital of 70 physicians to an eight-county health system with more than 400 employed providers, six affiliate hospitals, more than two dozen outpatient centers and more than a dozen school-based health centers.
"Dr. Streck recognized the need to regionalize care in a way that would make quality healthcare more accessible in this rural region," Bertine McKenna, Bassett's executive vice president and COO, told uticaOD.com.
