Bryan Health System, medical center CEO Kim Russel to step down in 2020

Kim Russel, president and CEO of Lincoln, Neb.-based Bryan Health, plans to retire effective Jan. 3, 2020.

Ms. Russel has served as leader of Bryan Health and CEO of its flagship Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln since 2008.

During her tenure, the organization established the Mental Health Counseling Center at Bryan West Campus, one of two campuses of Bryan Medical Center, and renovated and expanded the emergency department at Bryan East Campus, the second campus. She also oversaw the acquisition of Merrick Medical Center in Central City, Neb., and implementation of a new EHR.

Bryan Health CFO Russ Gronewold has been tapped to succeed Ms. Russel, according to Bill Lester, chair of the Bryan Health Board of Trustees.

John Woodrich, president and COO of Bryan Medical Center, will become executive vice president of Bryan Health and president and CEO of Bryan Medical Center.
