Boulder (Colo.) Community Health has appointed Robert Vissers, MD, president and CEO.
Here are six things to know about Dr. Vissers.
1. He began his position July 24, 2015.
2. He succeeds David Gehant.
3. Dr. Vissers, a board-certified emergency physician, has more than 25 years of clinical and healthcare management experience in academic and community hospital settings.
4. Before taking over as president and CEO of BCH, he was COO and executive vice president of the system.
5. Previously, he worked in various leadership roles at Portland, Ore.-based Legacy Health. He also was president and CEO of Northwest Acute Care Specialists, an independent emergency medicine and ambulatory care practice group that contracts exclusively with Legacy Health.
6. Dr. Vissers was born in Canada where he completed medical school and the residency program in emergency medicine at the University of British Columbia. He has a Master of Business Administration from Oregon Health & Science University/Portland State University.
