Benedictine Health System CEO Rocklon Chapin to retire next year

Duluth, Minn.-based Benedictine Health System President and CEO Rocklon B. Chapin is retiring. Since 2013, he has served as leader of the health system that provides health and housing services to aging adults.

During his tenure, Mr. Chapin helped move the organization from a holding company model to an operating company model. He was also instrumental in developing a strategic plan that will take the organization through 2020 and beyond. The health system includes approximately 35 campuses in five states.

Prior to joining Benedictine Health System, Mr. Chapin was executive vice president and senior officer for the hospital division of Duluth-based Essentia Health in Duluth. His previous positions include serving as executive vice president and COO at St. Luke's Methodist Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and senior administrator at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Mr. Chapin is expected to leave his post in January 2018. The organization's board will soon begin the search for his replacement.
