Baptist Health System in Birmingham, Ala., has named Chris Davis, MD, to the position of CIO/CMIO.
Dr. Davis has been the system's CMIO since 2012 and has been acting as CIO in an interim capacity since June following the resignation of Richard Shirey, who left to become CIO of Hartford (Conn.) Hospital.
Dr. Davis was a leader in the system's Epic EHR implementation and recently oversaw the 2014 CEHRT upgrade. In his new role, he will continue to lead the development and implementation of IT systems across the four-hospital organization.
"Dr. Davis is a tremendous addition to our leadership team and brings a wealth of strategy and experience that will benefit each of our facilities, primary care network and patients," said Scott Fenn, senior vice president and chief integration officer at BHS. "He will provide comprehensive IT oversight and clinical leadership to our health system going forward."
