Ronald A. Williams, chairman and CEO of health insurance company Aetna, has announced his retirement, effective April 2011, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
He will be succeeded by company president Mark T. Bertolini, who will assume the CEO role on Nov. 29. Mr. Williams, who joined the company in 2001 and became CEO in 2006, will stay on as executive chairman until April, when Mr. Bertolini will assume that role as well.
Mr. Williams will act as a consultant for Aetna on matters of public policy and federal regulatory strategy until Feb. 2012.
