This week was full of CEO moves — step-downs, removals, reshuffles and retirements.
Here are six CEO exits Becker's reported from Feb. 15-21:
1. Emily Mastaler is stepping down as CEO of River Hospital in Alexandria Bay, N.Y., for a new role as chief administrative officer of Stony Brook Southampton (N.Y.) Hospital. She will remain at the helm until May as the hospital firms up an interim leader.
2. Tom Manion is wrapping up his time as president and CEO of New London (N.H.) Hospital. Its parent company, Dartmouth Health, has transferred him to the COO position at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., effective April 8.
3. Brian Dietz resigned as president and CEO of Macomb, Ill.-based McDonough District Hospital, on Feb. 20. The board has voted to extend Bill Murdock as interim president — a role he has held since late December, when Mr. Dietz was suspended with pay pending an investigation into allegations regarding hospital management.
4. Janice Murphy, MSN, is planning to retire as president and CEO of Cleveland-based Sisters of Charity Health System after six years of service to the organization. She will step down once a successor is named, though the timeline has not been publicly defined.
5. Scott Moran, MD, CEO of Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center, a maximum-security forensic psychiatric hospital in Jessup, Md., is on leave amid allegations he bullied and threatened staff. Two employees have filed a petition for a restraining order against Dr. Moran.
6. Don Mueller is resigning as president and CEO of St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. He has accepted a new role with Siskin Children's Institute in Chattanooga, Tenn., a nonprofit organization that provides diagnostic services and treatment for special needs children. In July, Mr. Mueller was required to be on-site five days a week after state health inspectors identified safety lapses.
