Here is a list of 10 hospital presidents and CEOs recently named, in order from most to least recent.
1. William Jennings, president and CEO of Connecticut's Bridgeport Hospital
Mr. Jennings took over as president and CEO of Bridgeport Hospital on Oct. 1. He succeeds Robert Trefry, who served as hospital president and CEO since 1994 and retired earlier this year.
2. Brian Jepson, president of New York's Rochester General Hospital
Mr. Jepson most recently served as COO of Metro Health Hospital in Grand Rapids, Mich. He will take over for Mark Clement, president of Rochester General Health System, who has led Rochester General Hospital in addition to his other leadership duties since 2001.
3. Jose R. Sanchez, CEO of Chicago's Norwegian American Hospital
Mr. Sanchez comes to Norwegian American Hospital from Northern Manhattan Health Network in New York City, where he served as CEO. He has more than 30 years of healthcare experience.
4. Steve Moreau, CEO of California's St. Joseph Hospital
Mr. Moreau comes to St. Joseph Hospital from San Antonio Hospital in Upland, Calif., where he has served as president for the last five years. He succeeds former CEO Larry Ainsworth, who retired June 30.
5. Joe Dorko, CEO of Indiana's Lutheran Health
Lutheran Health, based in Fort Wayne, Ind., has appointed Mr. Dorko CEO of the health system, making permanent the role he has filled on an interim basis since June. Mr. Dorko served as COO of Lutheran Hospital for eight years and CEO of the hospital for three.
6. Greg Duick, MD, president of Kansas Heart Hospital
Dr. Duick is one of the founders of Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita. He will retain his title as chairman at Kansas Heart but will retire from medical practice to take on the responsibilities of his new position.
7. Richard Polheber, CEO of California's Palm Drive Hospital
Mr. Polheber replaces Mike Lieb, who has served as interim CEO for the Sebastopol hospital since May. Mr. Polheber will start at Palm Drive on Dec. 1 at an annual salary of $250,000.
8. Ninfa Saunders, president of New Jersey's Virtua Healthcare System
Ms. Saunders has been promoted to president and COO of Virtua Healthcare System, succeeding Richard P. Miller, who will continue as Virtua's CEO. Ms. Saunders most recently served as executive vice president for the health system.
9. Lori Wightman, president of Minnesota's Unity Hospital
Allina Hospital & Clinics has named Ms. Wightman president of Unity Hospital effective Jan. 20. She replaces interim president John Stoltenberg, MD, who has filled the position since the retirement of Rickie Ressler last year.
10. Mark Bryan, CEO of Florida's Delray Medical Center
Mr. Bryan has served as Delray Medical Center's interim CEO for the past two months. He most recently worked as senior vice president and COO of Birmingham, Ala.-based Baptist Health System.
